Toronto Raptors swingman RJ Barrett will be out the rest of the preseason, the team announced Tuesday, after suffering an injury in Sunday’s preseason game.
Per the team, Barrett has a sprained right acromioclavicular joint, which is a joint where the collarbone meets the shoulder blade at the top of the shoulder. Barrett was injured in the second quarter of Toronto’s 125-98 win against the Washington Wizards. He led the Raptors with 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting in the victory.
Last season, Barrett averaged 21.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Raptors. He is a key part of Toronto’s core, which also includes All-Star forward/guard Scottie Barnes and guard Immanuel Quickley. Toronto opens its regular season on Oct. 23 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers (7:30 ET, NBA League Pass).
